7 Ideas When Emptying The Bookshelves

21Nov 2014

Undoubtedly, the books, the magazines and all the other paper kind of stuffs are the most important items to include in the checklist when moving for study. Yet there are numerous services of companies specialized in big and small student removals, while on the other hand, the books are some of the most delicate items in the inventory to deal with. If you do the inventory by yourself - take a look at some great advices when emptying the old bookshelves.- Spend more time on sorting the books or the magazines. Review all the covers and get rid of the oldest ones that you already know well. It`s not needed to do that after the move, as well as to get rid of the old magazines or notebooks after you`ve already move them to the student home. - Whether moving via man and van services, a big removals company or even just a van hire - prepare in advance the packaging materials for the books. They are quite delicate items and they really need a special attention. First, make sure to have small or medium-sized boxes, but sturdy and rigid in the same time. The small books and magazines may look light and easy to move, but they become truly heavy when piled together.- Use wrapping materials like small light textile sheets or so. Fit them into the empty spaces between the books to prevent any damage in case of turning or rolling of the box. Also, put the biggest and heaviest books on the bottom, while piling lighter books on top. Another great idea is to use the bookshelves as a strong and solid foundation, and then start fitting the books one on top of another.- In the case with the strong and solid bookshelves on the bottom, make sure to protect them from any damage while moving the boxes inside the moving van. Wrap all the corners and edges of the boxes with protective packaging tape or even use edge protectors for the corners if the box is bigger, heavier and with a greater volume of books.- Label all the small boxes with notes like "books", “documents” or "paper materials", etc. Then, use the same labels from your moving checklist for a better orientation among the numerous other small and large boxes with important student items.- Clean your books from dust before putting them into the boxes. The entire mess at the moving day is a little bit greater than in an ordinary day, but you will ensure a cleaner transportation of your books if wiping off the dust in advance. During the loading process in the moving van, make sure to put that exact box with label "books" or "paper materials" away from any box with liquids or bottles. Although they should be protected too, there is only a chance of leaking while the books, the card boxes and all other papers are like a huge sponge.- When unloading in your student flat or an apartment maybe, make sure to be more careful with the books. It would be quite easier to orientate in which box are they, if the box is labeled with the same note as in the inventory checklist. Or else, a more comprehensive note with the name of the books or at least some abbreviation of the content of the box can help you with an easier orientation during the arrangement of the boxes on the shelves.
